Respected gurus,

While posting the GR for PO i am receiving one error about my posting period.

" Posting only possible in periods 2007/08 and 2008/ 07 for company code xxx " error message M7053

What could be the reason of the same.

Can you tell me exactly the significance of the posting period and also how to check my current posting period for the company code.

If any change is required in the same how to carry out the same.

Please guide me.

Hi,

I think you have a typing error in the message you quoted.

The system would NOT have preiods 07 / 2007 and 08/2008 open.

Please can you cut and paste the exact dates so that we can tell you what the current period is.

Yes Stephen you correct.

Sorry for the mistake

Correct posting date is 2007/07 and 2007/08.

Please explore on it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

If this is the message then you MUST be using a posting date that is either before July or after August.

It does look like someone has moved the current period on to period 8, should it be 8 or 7 (it all depends on how your periods have been set up0

But the bsaic interpretation of the message is that the posting date used is not within the current period (or the current period minus one).

So either the period is wrong, or the posting date being entered is worng.

Please check this and let us know.

Hi Steve,

But monica has mentioned that the posting date is 18/07/2007, which should not give any problem to my understanding. Its in the previuos period.

Is there anything else we have to consider about posting date?

Hi,

If the posting date of 18/07/2007 was used then this should match the period 07 which is the previous period. But this all depends on how the periods have been defined, they are not always linked to calendar months.

So we cannot assume that 18/07/2007 is in 07/2007 and the system is certainly indicating that it isn't in 07/2007 or 08/2008.

So either 18/07/2007 is in another period (check with your financial people as to which period it should be). Or the date that was quoted was NOT the posting date (perhaps it was the document date, the posting date is a separate field).

Hi,

Please check the current posting period in OMSY.

Then close the past periods in MMPV. If you want to allow the posting in past then goto transation MMRV. If you want to initialize the period then goto MMPI.

Hope the info is useful

thanks and regards

Hi Monica,

This error comes due to 2 reasons.

1. You have entered a wrong posting date.

2. You have entered the correct posting date, but the period shifting has not happened.

Check the current and previous period for the company code in MMRV. If they are not set correctly then the same has to be done through MMPV. These current and previous period are the only open periods during which postings can be made.

The posting date is used for IV.
