Please provide guidelines on Functional Specification

Hello Everyone,

I need to know about Functional Specification and Reports for sub modules like PA and OM.

Is it compulsory to have ABAP knowledge for performing role in Functional Specification. Does a functional consultant creates user exits, and does Testing. If yes, how?? Please help me out with this. Any input from anyone would be a great help for me. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rachna,

The Functional Specification is a document whisch describes the features of the desired functinality. It contains the technical information and the data needed for the design, developement and testing requirements.

Its not mandatory that the functional consultant should know the ABAP.But functional consultant must have Domain knowledge.

Functional consultants should be aware of all the user exits for any particular transaction .but its not compulsory that he should do the coding.Normally ABAPERS do the coding in user exit.But in the case of testing functional has to do the testing for diiferent scenarios.

I have one more question if you can put some input it would be great.

What exactly a functional consultant needs to do in Testing. Whats the process?? Can you explain it with a small example.
