ESS - Travel and Expense Development using NWDI and NWDS

Hi Everyone,

I've checked out a component from ESS package (Travel and Expense Component to be exact), I made some changes and checked it back in. Then I activated the activity and finally released it. My changes were related to removing a couple of fields form the General Data View in the esstratre~sap.com package. However, I still don't see the changes being reflected on our Dev runtime system. Activation Results tab shows that the activity was built properly (there is a check on the component). Am I missing something? I also confirmed that we have our runtime systems setup properly in the Dev Track for NWDI.

ESS is a Web Dynpro application and therefore I am thinking a Portal restart should not be required. A simple deployment to the J2EE should do the trick. Do I need to clean the Portal Cache? Not sure what's going on here...

Thanks!

MOY

Hi ,

General Data has a lot of configurations available in the backend.. It s highly possible that , the changes you have made were over ridden by the configuration as in SPRO.

Where and how did you make the changes ?

Bharathwaj,

I am trying to remove the first two Time Fields in General Data. We do not want these fields to show up on the Portal. Is there a way to remove them via configuration?

I was trying to remove the Time Fields by changing the Web Dynpro views...

Thanks!

I was able to revert back to the original version using the 'Version Graph' functionality.

Hi Muhammed,

First rule of development with NWDI is always test your changes locally before checking them out. Deploy this on your local J2EE Engine and see if the fields have been removed if so then check the deployed version changed date to see if this is in sync. you can see this in the System Info area http://localhost:50000/systeminfo.

Raj...Thank you for the reply. There was an issue with our NWDI configuration which fixed our problem.

However, one my changes caused ESS to throw an error. I wanted to revert back to a previous version. Can you tell me how to do this? I have never worked with NWDI before...

Thanks!

Hi MOY ,

What you can do is to return to the previous version and redeploy it. You can watch this forum .

Hope this helps,
