Error 6323 means "The client communications layer was not able to load the OpenSSL libraries."

In order to use the AES encryption or TLS communications, you need to purchase the FIPS Encryption Security Option add-on, purchased separately. You need to have OpenSSL installed and the libraries libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll need to be in a folder that the Advantage server can access. Finally, the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime needs to be installed.

Have all of these requirements been met?

See:

Advantage on-line help files (ADS 12)

If none of this helps, please open a support incident.

Mike:

Thanks for the pointers.

We do have the ssl dlls and got it working fine with our main app (aes or aes+tls).

The kicker is that we have an outlook add-in and that's the one where we get the 6323 even though the dlls are present in the same folder where abacusmo.dll is located (they're also in Windows\System32). Also copied to many other locations (where Outlook.exe resides), different folder under c:\users\<username>\AppData\Local with no success so far; always fails with 6323, even just using aes but no tls.

So there's something different in how Outlook loads add-ins that affects ADS somehow.

Just to make sure we have the correct version of the MSVC++ runtime, do you have a link to that installer?

As soon as I can get the dll working with aes, I'll post my findings here.

Knowledge Base Article 2069325 includes a link to the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package. I am not sure whether newer packages are also supported.

Presumably Outlook also accesses the MSVC++ runtime, so if Advantage and Outlook are running on the same machine, this could possibly a source of your problem. Outlook may be loading a newer version before Advantage loads its own.
