Message VN096 Maintain archiving parameters for output type XXXX

Hi Experts,

I am posting this question again since similar questions related to this issue were posted before and have been archived now. Moreover, none of the earlier posts had any solution mentioned in the end.

Issue: I am trying to trigger an output from within the Invoice list which is supposed to create an archive link for the Invoice list PDF, however I get the following error every time.

"Maintain archiving parameter(s) for output type XXXX (appl. V3)"

I have repeatedly checked the settings in the output type, however I dont see any error as such. I came across a SAP note 639149 which recommended to configure the printer settings thru Tcode: SPAD and it was done by the Basis team. Even after configuring all the settings, I still encounter the above error.

Any clues or approach towards achieving a feasible solution from your end will be highly appreciated.

Kindly help.

Thanks,

Himanshu.

Thank you everyone for finding time to answer my question.

I debugged the program and found that the Archiving printer settings in the system were incorrect and hence the program failed every time.

Issue: The archiving printer was categorized under "Standard Printer" device class which was incorrect as it is an archiving printer.

Solution: Once the device class for archiving printer was changed to "A" i.e. Archiving Program, the system was able to archive the Invoice lists successfully.

Please refer the screenshot below for more information.

Hope it helps others who face the same issue anytime.

Thanks,

Himanshu.

"Where used" does not find this message, so I'd suggest to use a debugger to set a watchpoint for it and see where exactly it occurs. Also there is a long text for this message that might provide additional details.

We don't use output archiving so I can't help much but there is a good blog on this configuration here.

Even after configuring all the settings,

Have you tried with newly created documents after the configuration change? If not, try and update here.
