Shortened fiscal year SAP ByDesign

Dear experts,

Is it mandatory to create shortened fiscal year in SAP ByDesign, when the go-live date is in the middle of calendar year?

Or can I use standard calendar year and first 6 months will be reported with zeros? Are there any limitations? Is possible, that this scenario will have some negative impact on the solution?

Thank you for answer in advance.

    Hello Marian,

Go live date does not influence the fiscal year selection. You will need to select the fiscal year organisation is following (Mostly as per the country where org is registered).

If you use calendar year as your fiscal year and you go live mid year, you will anyway migrate the data from your legacy system to the Bydesign system. This will be shown as opening balance for the GL accounts and etc. So its perfectly fine to use calendar year as fiscal year and have go live date mid of year.

Just a short comment on the impact : If you are using standard fiscal year variant, then it is not possible to change the fiscal year variant to different fiscal year. with the deferred fiscal year/custom fiscal year (Where year specif flag is ticked during the set up), you still have a chance to manipulate the year variant and get to the desired variant.
