Hello Experts, I'm a beginner trying to learn HANA. I understand that with HANA BW and ECC becomes one system. Also i learn that HANA can process 3.6Billion records in 1 second.

Ok. I got this. HANA is very fast in processing our queries. However, I fail to understand the real need for HANA Modelling.

As far as i know, via modelling we join the transaction data with master data and create some information models(Views). The same can be achieved by few join queries in ABAP at the starting of report. Hana is fast. So i can do it quickly. Can anyone please let me know why we really need Modelling as a separate concept ?

If we compare ABAP and HANA modeling. ABAP is more like business processing or Application server level language.

When HANA/Modeling is like DB server level language so processing wise there is huge difference.

Here push down approach is followed where data is filtered at DB server only and Only required data is passed to business processing.

So for better perforamce this is good.

Check normal ABAP code vs AMDP
