DMS Configuration Documentation

Hi,

Can anyone pls send me the DMS configuration documentation ?

If I want to use Fileserver ( external data server but not SAP content server) for storage of documents then how do I configure this ?

Do anyone have any idea ?

One more question: While assigning original files to the documents we have to assign Document storage area. How and where this is configured ?

I still have one question:

How we can use Internet site/servers to store documents in DMS ? I can logon and store documents in the Internet site. I know the URL of the site. But how to link this in DMS ?

Do you have any idea on this.

Hi Maiti,

Try this,

Goto SE80 TCode,

Select "BSP Application"

and then select its Component View i.e. "CVAW_INCLUDES" i.e. Includes Screens for Documents@web. activate this and take some help of Good ABAP person, he will do it for you.

Hi Maiti,

I've I understood you right, you want to add URL pages as originals to existing document info records. Therefore some customizing is necessary.

1. Settings in transaction DC30:

In transaction DC30 you have to create a new workstation application which is able to handle URLs. For example create application called “HTM” and define file format *.htm and *.html to it. Please make sure that the flag “Data check off” is set.

Afterwards go to subfolder „Define workstation application in network” and maintain the different application types (display, edit, print) and assign the parameter %AUTO% to it.

2. Settings in transaction DC20:

Within transaction DC20 you have to choose or maintain a frontend type like “PC” first. Afterwards change to „Define mount points / logical drive“ and define a mountpoint for the selected frontend type (PC) by maintaining a link like http://www.sap.com for example.

After maintaining these settings you should be able to add URLs to your document info records and displaying them from DMS transactions. But please note that the URL originals shouldn’t be checked in as these originals are already stored on some Webserver.

Thanks again for your help.

My requirement is little a bit different. My client uses some sharepoint site for document storage. This is an internet site. This is a tool used by the client to store and manage documents. You can logon to this site using your credentials and create folders, docs or upload docs etc based on the authorizations given to you by the administrator on the internet site.

I don't have the internet server details like IP domain, gateway etc. But I know the URL through which I can access the Sharepoint site.

The Client wants to link that Internet server with DMS for original document storage.

Am I clear in my requirement right now ?

P.S.: I am not going to access or search docs on the internet right now. This I will explore later.

But I definitely want to access all the DMS functionality through EP.

Pls give it a thought.

Hi Maiti,

generally you have the possiblity to use the following storage type in DMS:

- Content Server

- Vault

- Archive

For setting up a vault as storage category please see SAP Note 183119 which contains all the necessary settings and explanations.

SAP recommends to use the Content Server storage as it enables you to store more than two originals for one document info record. Maintaining a storage category is only necessary if you use a Content Server. If you use another storage type there should not be a storage category.

The decission if you use a content server storage or not could be done in transaction DC10 for each document type. If you set the flag "Use KPRO" then the storage in a content server is used and otherwise the system expects to store the originals in a vault or archive.

Our Client requirement was to store the documents on the Internet site (its a share point site where we can logon using our credentials and store documents on the folders).

I know the URL of the internet site but don't know the Server IP details of the Internet server.

My question is how I can use this site to store original documents.

What are the configuration settings need to be done for that ?

I have gone through the Note 183119 you have mentioned, but could not follow it.

Pls tell me whether I can use Vault for the above scenario.

I also tried to configure the Vault but I don't know the server details, so can,t configure the same on the "Data Carrier Type".

Pls help me out on this.

I will really appreciate if you can guide me on this ?
