In the GL account (control tab) the field tax category should eb maintained (generally *). If this field is left blank no tax can be calculated for any posting to that account.
If you are going to have instances where you dont wish to calculate tax on some postings to the same account, ensure you flag 'posting without tax' in the GL master.
