Hello All

Got this idea from the SD forum, dont you guys also think we should have a meet for all MM forum folks, though it is not possible for all of us in this forum to be at a same place as all belongs to different location around the globe, but i am taking initiative if we can start this from Mumbai-Pune guys in INDIA, then if everything works well we can go for more and who knows after a point of time we can have a global meet also(though doesn't look feasible).I wish we could have guys like STEVE and others near to us so that we can meet and share fun.

anyways for the time being we can start it from Mumbai-Pune..

So guys what you think....please coment on this.....let see how many are interested in such a meet.

Guys,

There is not updates on the persons, dates, venue and topics since last two months so I thought...

As I mentioned previously, DO NOT drop this idea as this is going to be very good event.

Please do the following to get some more guys to get involve in this event.

1. Communicate within your organization with your SAP practice for this event and ask them to give ideas and approx. period of time for this event.

2. Once you discuss within your organization, draft a proposed plan containing all information i.e. Dates, venue, topics etc.

3. Enquire in your city about the rates and availability for event hall.

4. Update your SDN profile with email ID, contact number for communication.

5. Start communicating with each other to discuss with your drafted plan

6. once every one is ready to propose two/three schedule then share on SDN forum to get more feedback

7. Finalize the event and lock it..

At anypoint of time, if you need help, please let me know.

Fianlly, DO NOT DROP this idea.

Yogesh. Thanks for this initiative and best of luck..

ASUG (Americas' SAP Users' Group) is very active group in US which frequently arranges seminar, workshops, training sessions for all SAP users. I am not sure about any organization in India , but if all of you guys (specially from India) can make at least 3-5 events successfull (I am sure you can make it) then it will get well recognization accross the SAP world.

Also, you will get sponsership from IT/Consulting company which supports this kind of seminar for their marketing purpose or to findout more telents for their leadership.

I suggest some more points addition to other experts' view.

- Have very clear agenda for this event.

- Event should be very productive and informative instead of general meeting.

- Communicate with SAP marketing guys for this event so they can add/suggest some more activities.

- communicate with management in your organization so they can provide their inputs (specially budget allocation for participating candidates)

Finally, dont drop this idea if you dont get much response from other guys (I am sure this will not happen), but start with getting volenteers from your organization.

MM/WM GUYS ... PLEASE UPDATE YOUR PROFILE WITH EMAIL ADDRESS so Yogesh and other volenteers can communicate with you for updates on this event.

I Wish to be there...

Good luck.

Thanks ARIF, STEVE and MARVIN for your valuable suggestions.

Even i also think we should have a proper predfined agenda which can be communicated to all the participants in advance. so that everybody is sure that they are definately going to get some valuable input from this MEET apart from knowing each other face to face.

My plan is that we can make a casual list of TEN important topics and tell everybody to rate those topics in terms of points (say out of 10) and then top most 5 topics will be finalised for the meet . then we can look for the experts(from the forum) who are ready to share their knowledge on the topic in terms of presentation/ or a formal tak of approx. 1hour. on the MEET day.

So STEVE/ ARIF/Charlie/Rang ..and other experts request you to suggest those 10 topics which you think can or i say should be eligble for discussion on MEET DAY, then we can strat rating out of 10 and select top 5.

From My side i thnk as also suggested by STEVE the following areas should be taken:

MM-FI Integration

Stock Transport order (All scenarios)

Release procedure

Pricing Procedure...

Rest i leave to you guys to suggest:other topics.

And Request You all MM Forum Experts to respond , i am sure it will be a GR888 experience for all of us.

Hi Yogesh,

I think you may have one problem that could be a tricky one.

If the meeting is going to have very useful topics (as I think we all agree that is should have), will you run the risk of having every person in India that wants to attend a "free MM training session" signing up?

It would be great to have an audience of thousands but how would you control who can attend and who can't?

I think that this could be the one thing that would cause the biggest problem !

Yes you could say that only SDN members can attend, but if word gets around you might cause a large increase of new SDN members (which would be great but how would you manage the numbers involved).

So please can we have some input from everyone as to how we can make sure that this is not completely overrun with people just wanting free training from some of the best MM experts around?

Get this right and you will have a really good attendance, get this wrong and you may find it TOO big.

As for the topics to consider, I guess a quick search through the message board to find the most common subjects would be a good start. The five mentioned above would definitely be ones to include, plus other hot topics from the forum.

One topic that I would have volunteered for would be the MM organisation structure. Plants, Storage locations, P orgs and P groups. This is one area that people constantly get wrong and they don't ever realise the loss of functionality that they get.

Yogesh,

Back after the weekend, and i'm surprised to find no one new on this thread. I guess this needs some more publicity, and i feel this would work. As a starter for support try to actively involve your nearest MM Forum members into this, they could be your friends, or guys working in Companies close to yours, or even just your immediate MM team members for that matter.

Hope the response really shoots up....

Hi Marvin

Yeah it seems problem is with the location. anyways lets wait for another week and then if number of guys comes< 20 then i think its better not to go for this.

I beleive till now number < 5, anyways guys please confirm once again who all are interested in this MEET, so that we can count.

Hi Ypgesh,

As I said in my earlier post, you may have a problem with TOO MANY attendees if you announce that there is going to be free training in the hardest MM subjects. So it is up to you if you want to "sell" this as a meeting of experts or a presentation by experts (with discussion) of the trickiest subjects in MM.

So you have to make it quite clear what the aim is.

If this is to get people from this forum together and share their ideas, the attendance will never be high because this would really only interest the experts and regular posters.

If you want large numbers then you have to modify the agenda so that everyone who posts on this forum (and others) can see the benefit of attending.

I don't think that the numbers being small for the first one should be a problem. This would mean that you can all discuss where you want to go with this in future. Not only that but if there are 20 people (or more) attending it would in no way be a discussion, it would be a presentation.

So I would discuss the TYPE of get together you want

Social event (a few people in a room with a flexible "Agenda"

Discussion (a few people in a room (less than 20) but with a fairly rigid agenda)

Presentation (a large number of people in a room and a small number of participants who talk on various subjects)

I think it will be a big success but you do need to decide what sort of an event it will be first, so that people will know if it is appropriate for them.

Hi Stephen & Yogesh,

First I would like to appreciate yogesh Idea of get together and stephen for his valuable suggestions.

As it is being happening first time we will take some time for planning.

Agenda will be 1) Brief Introduction of forum activities and its advantages

2) Views of individual participants about forum activities and feed back to utilize forum effectively.

3) Imp sessions on MM (topics will be decided after having a final words with forum experts)

4) future actvities.

5) feed back.

I think pune will be better place for meeting bcoz if we can manage to conduct this get together on saturday, people can visit near by places like Khandala, Lunavala, Sinhgad which are near by pune. Sothat all guys can enjoy a lot.(dont take it as a final bcoz its my opinion only).

First we have to make a list of mebers who are willing to attend the get-together, also one thing we have to keep in mind financial contributions are required from the members.

Instead of replying to this pls send your nomination to ravikumarbolla@gmail.com keeping subject as MM Forum. So we can get a fair idea how many members are willing to attend the meet and their acceptance of financial contribution. I will make a brief report of this. Pls do it quickly i.e by wednesday afternoon.

I think after getting this information about the number of mebers only we can move a ahead.

Thanks and regards

Ravi

(suggestions are always welcome)

Hi Ravi

I appreciate your ideas but we are not getting names of the people , what i think we should have names here first then later once it is finalised then we can communicate personally through mail. as for location your idea of Pune is very good because of having wonderful location around it and also this is the best time to have a visit to these places. but why i have suggested Mumbai because if somebody is coming from location outside maharshtra then almost all the places are connected to it (flights/trains). As Steve also said number doesn't matter much as it will be first meet, so if number will be less also (even 5-8) we can have a casual meeting at any place.

So guys once again requesting to confirm your name here whoever is intersted.

Hi Yogesh,

If you ask how many people would like to attend free SAP training, I am sure that the figure would be in the hundreds and basically this is what the event would be for many.

So I think that many forum users here are not realising just how much they could get out of an event like this, it would cost them a great deal to get anything like this elsewhere.

So come on guys, get involved and get something of real value, from people who really know the SAP software from first-hand experience.

Hi All,

It's really a great idea and I am pretty sure that it would be a trend setter.

All the best.Currently I am not in India but certainly would be there for a week in October from 10th to 14th.

If the summit happens to be during that period then nothing like it as certainly I would like to attend the same.Be it Mumbai or Pune.

Both places are suitable for me.

I have a suggestion here.

1.

What we can do first is to decide on dates and venue. For that some one should take initiative on behalf of everyone to propose 3 options for both date and venue.

I propose Yogesh for that.

Yogesh,

Hope it's fine with you.

Once yogesh proposes the date and venue whoever interested should give his or her choice of preference.

For this activity to get over there should be some time limit so that further activities can be decided and freezed.

Once Yogesh receives feedback till a cut off date, final date and venue can be freezed.

Once that is done we are in a position to make it happen. Then we can send the official communication to everyone for the date and venue and then subsequently work out on the event management.

I hope everyone agrees to this.

We must find a proper communication channel for all this like forming a group over a web dedicated for this ONLY.

Best Regards,

manOO

Hello Friends

I am vey happy getting so many responses and seeing enthu for such a meeting....

"But to make it a big event we need more people(at least 20+) to join so that it will be more useful and economical(it will be on sharing basis) also. and i need volunteers( at least 3) from the forum within Mumbai or Pune"

So i need opinion on the following points:

1) Which Location MUMBAI or PUNE?

2) Things to be discussed offcourse apart from fun.

3) Volunteers names?

4) Email ids of the guys interested (so that important things can be communicated)

5) Approximate BUDGET (i leave this to Mumbai / Pune guys as they have better idea about the rates of hotel and all? but need some response in this regard.

6) Date and Timings of the MEET?

So request you guys to come forward and help me to make this even a grand one.

STEVE your suggestions most welcome and Expected.

Hi Yogesh,

One thing that might be useful is if you have a room with projection / presentation facilities and get volunteers to commit to doing a brief (or otherwise) presentation on a specific area of MM that people normally have problems with.

For instance, if I had been able to attend I would have put together a 1 hour talk on Automatic Account Determination, or Invoice verification (or similar).

I am sure that we have enough members with first-hand experience of some of the "tricky" areas within SAP and even if they don't go into detail, they could give an overview and then open a discussion on the subject.

It is almost as if you could have an agenda that reads something like a high level SAP MM menu and try to get someone to volunteer for each of the main functions. They can use their own experience or volunteer to find out more about the subject specifically for the meeting.

But it could be that some people don't feel comfortable presenting anything and so they have to be able to attend and discuss without feeling as if they are expected to present anything.

So if you can find enough volunteers to fill a reasonable agenda of tricky SAP subjects, I am sure that everyone will get something from the event.

It is as important though, to make it fun and not too heavy going, while at the same time everyone feeling that the event was worth the effort they put in to attend.

I would LOVE to be there, I am very jealous.

Hi Yogesh,

Seems to me that Steve has got it all figured out.

I'm not imposing anything here, but i feel that Mumbai would be a better place for this.

Now regarding the things to be discussed apart from fun, we better follow Steve on this.

Volunteers names???-- Very important, because you cannot do all by yourself.

Email ids of the guys interested----This should be the really dedicated and capable guys who can make a worthy contribution and pull this off well.

5) Approximate BUDGET--- Mumbai guys should decide.

6) Date and Timings of the MEET?------This should be decided after getting enough volunteers and participants and a collective decision should be taken.

Hi Yogesh,

I hope that you get a good response from the people on the MM forum.

I just wish that I could somehow attend, it would be really nice to meet the friends I have made on this site (such as you).

Also I couldn't think of anyone better than you to try to pull this thing together, if you can't get this to work then I am not sure that anyone could.

You have my full support even though this will be "remote".

The very best of luck
