Only the thing you need to look is copy the data files and log files before you start the process. One more thing is in between the process, you need to restart the system, once you have taken the backup.
As far as I know, client copy should always work between systems with the same release, support package level, and workbench repository (at least with the export-import method). It does not care the platform (OS-DB combination) or the Unicode settings.
