Displaying Column result as 'X' in Red ?

Former Member

Expert's,

One of my result in a column is displying as 'X' in red colour. Some body suggested that it is because of formula collision and formula which has be to be run first has to be selected in Technical properties.I am getting where exactly this technical property is available.

Is Red 'X' because of the formula collision?

If it is so how can we get rid of it?

Points will be definitely assigned for the right anweres.

Thanks in advance.

hi Vasu,

check if it's cause by different unit/currency ?

use NODIM, in data functions - (unit without dimension) in the formula editor.

to change the 'formula collision', right click the key figure and 'properties',

there's formula collision with options 'not define', 'result from this formula', and 'result from competing formula'

hope this helps.

Hi vasu vassu

It seems to be bcoz of denominator value which u used in U r formula..

As per my understanding just Put NODIV() function.it will solve u r problem..

Hope itz clear a little atleast...!

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

X is because of divide by 0. In the formula use data function NDIV0(a) . where a stands for value of key figure.

This is how it works.

if value of a is non zero system will display actual value .

if value of a is zero system will display zerp value .

Hope that helps.

No They dont have any dimensions. Also I checked with the options of formula collision. But still the result is displaying as red 'X'.I tried with the option of NODIM and also NODIV(a).Please suggest me.

Hi vasu,

It has been mentioned before, but check for the other alternatives the 'X' might represent in transaction RSCUSTV4 in BW. It might be overflow.

No It is working fine in another query same formula. And also in same query for other column it is working fine. But only for one column it is not working properly.

Hi,

One more reason of displaying "X" in bex is

Display value for cells of undeterminable value
Text for cells in an executed query for which no value can be
     determined.
The text you specify is displayed in the Business Explorer if the
corresponding numeric value cannot be determined.

Hope that helps.

Yes, but I assume the data are different in the other query and for the other column?

Hence, there could be an numeric overflow in one column/query, whereas there are no issues in other columns/queries.

Hope I'm clear.

My Formula goes like this.

X/(X+Y) * 100.

Here X 13,584 $ 34,753,546,399

Y 2,016 $ 11,750,223,900

For the second column I am getting a value that is perfect.

But for the first column I am getting' X' in Red.

Hope this information is enpough.

Hi ,

Formula should be like

( X / (X+Y)) * 100.

Also could you list down exact value for which you gets 'X' , from earlier post its not very clear as for which value combination system gives 'X' .

Hope that helps.

X 13,584

Y 2,016

These are the combination of values for which I am getting 'X' in Red.

Hi,

do you get the X in all cells of your column or only the result row?

do you have a characteristic drilled accross?

are your X and Y keyfigures already formulas or CKF or RKF?

let us know,

Olivier.
