Hi to all,

can anyone please explain the difference between snp production horizon and ppds production horizon.

In apo, snp doesn"t create any production orders. it will plan only planned orders. The SNP planned orders are passed into ppds planeed orders. Then it will create production orders. Then y we will define snp production orders. actually what is the meaning behind it.

pleae clarrify my doubt

Hi Vamsi,

If the production horizon of SNP s smaller tham PP/DS horizon , the planning horizons of SNP & PP/DS overlap eachother. In this horizon SNP determines the receipts ith the most cost effective ources of supply and ot sizes and PP/DS plans the receipts generated by SNP in more detail.

SNP is more high level planning for critical resources,PP/DS does more level of detailing and scheduling in Production orders.

So once an SNP Planned order comes into PP/DS Horizon it is converted into

PP/DS order and also the SNP PPM's can be converted intp PP/DS PPM's.

Check any PP/DS PPM's it contains more data than the SNP PPM.

Have a look at the following posts:

Hi Jimmy,

So according to your view, SNP will create Planned order after SNP production horizon. Is it true

Yes this is the case.

Hi Vamsi,

The SNP Production Horizon determines the earliest time which an SNP Planning tool can schedule an order. The PPDS Planning Horizon determines is the latest time within which the PPDS planning tools can schedule.

Hi Balaji,

I would like to ask u 1 Q?. Befor SNP cerates planned orders, will it check How much of time requires for production .

Let say example: If the product is going to producution order, instead of procurement. will it calculates the production time for that material . lat say 10 working days from now for 10 quantites. Then snp will create planned orders. Based on that ,SNP Planned order will converted into PP/DS Planned order. Then PP/DS Planned orde rwill converted into Production order into more detail planning than SNP . Then PP/DS production order let say for 15 days instead of 10 Days. Then what will happen . Then any RE -Run process will takes place . or it will create production order for that material for 15 days for 10 quatities.Or it will consider 10 days.

Can u please expalin me in detail

Hi Vamsi,

In the example in your case if

SNP Horizon = 10 days

PPDS Horizon = 15 days

If SNP orders schedule the planned order on the 10th day and PPDS detailed scheduling pushes the order to the 15th day. Then the order will continue to be retained on the 15th day, no further processing in SNP will affect the dates of the order. If the PPDS order is not confirmed then PPDS can still reschedule the same order.

Jimmy.
