Varient classes

Hi,

Mat A is a configurable mtl. Assume class C (300 class type) is assigned to the material in material master & in configuration profile.Sales orders are presently created using class C.

Now I want use another class --D for the same material for creating sales order. I have assigned the class D in material master & configuration profile with the standard class indicator marked as on.

But system is proposing the Class C only during sales order configuration???

Can anybody guide me on this???? Can I delete the assignment of the previous class C???

MHP,

If already objects are created with class C then you cannot delete the assignment and assign a new class. In my understanding you would not be able to delete the old class and assign a new class when configured objects are present in the system.

Yes, It is true that we can not delete the old class if the configured objects are present in the system.

But I think we can assign <b>addtional classes of 300 class type</b> in the material master OR configuration profile. And by setting the <b>standard class indicator</b> on for one (<b>ONLY ONE CLASS</b>) of the assigned classes, we can make the system to propose that particular class available for configuring the objects.

If this is true then, i can use the new class for configuration without deleting the old class (both classes are from 300 class type)

Am I correct OR not????

1) if not then please correct me. Then also specify the use of standard class indicator in maerial master OR cofig. profile

2) if yes then the same is not working. Can u please, guide me on the same

MHP,

When you assign class D in addition to C the characteristics of both C and D appear during configuration. So you enter the configuration for the required characteristics.

When a class is assigned as a standard class then this class is what you get as assigned to the object by defualt when you call the classification data for the object.

I dont think you have the option of choosing between classes during configuration.

Thanks for the reply. But still my query is open. It will be helpful for me if you can show lights furthur.

I do not want the option to choose between the classes during configuration

Even by marking the standard indicator on for 1 of the two classes, the system is proposing characteristics of both the classes when the user is configuring characteristics in sales order (va01) Which is not required for me.

I want the characteristics of the standard class only to be proposed during sales order configuration.

My requirement is same as mentioned in the standard SAp help document

Classification (CA-CL) > classification > "Defining a standard class"

But it is not working.

Where should be the problem???

YOU CANNOT DELETE THE OLD CLASS "C" AND

CHENGE TO CLASS "D"

IF YOU ASSIGN THE MATERIAL FOR THE PARTICULAR CLASS .

ITS TAKE THAT ALONE IN THE SALES ORDER.

MAKE YOU SURE THAT, IN WHAT IS THE NEED OF THE CHANGE THE CLASS
