PO Workflow

I am making a workflow for the release of purchase order. I have some queries. In the business object BUS2012 there are two methods singlerelease and release. What is the difference between these two? Moreover, what is the event ReleaseStepCreated? And which field indicates that PO has been released. And what is the value of release code when the PO IS released.
