Hi,

I have started installation of NW2004sSR2 on Linux/MaxDB. I am 4th step of in "Execute Phase" of the installation(unpack SAP archives).

The installation is done with user root.

I am getting following error

/root/GSTEMP/ is the installation master CD location

I have checked the file permissions. Set 777 permission to the file/directory with command "chmod 777 -R /root/GSTEMP/".

Reviewed and , but this did not solve for me.

Checked the directory related to user <sid>adm, but permission is identical to other user <sid>adm available on the OS.

Created a file in the directory /root/GSTEMP/BS_2005_SR2_SAP_Installation_Master/IM_LINUX_IA64/COMMON/ with user root and no problem.

Can you please let me know what can be the cause of the issue

Gidion

Hi Gidion,

you copied the installation master to /root, this is the home directory of root...

Does your <sid>adm have access to it? Can you do a

ls /root/GSTEMP/BS_2005_SR2_SAP_Installation_Master/IM_LINUX_IA64/COMMON/INSTALL/JDBCCONNECT.JAR

as <sid>adm? (It's not enough to do a "chmod 777 to /root/GSTEMP" if <sid>adm is not allowed to access /root).

Better copy the DVDs to /tmp.

Best regards,

Elmar.

Adding temporarily the rwx permission for others to the root directory (chmod o+rwx /root). This solved the reported error message.

Thanks.

Hi Gidion,

Try giving 777 permission to the directory where you have put your SAP installables
