BEx variables

I'm have a query and under query properties 'Sequence of entry variables, there is a variable "Period/Fiscal Year (Single Value Entry, Required) (0P_FPER)".

However this variable is not assigned to any InfoObject in the query definition (i.e: 0FISCPER). When the query is run, you get a selection screen. How is this possible?
