Hello ,

I was hoping to ask you a question that I am facing at Client for a new installation on BI 2004S.

I was investigating options where SAP Clients on 2004s (fresh installation )have migrated their business content also to BI7.0 format.

Are clients moving business content 3.5 transfer rules/update rules to new BI 7.0 transformations ?

If they have indeed moved from BI 3.5 to BI 7.0 on a fresh installation can you please tell me the pros and cons if possible .I have listed some below .

Pros:

Migration from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0 would enable us to be on SAP’s roadmap considering all new installations are using the approach of migration and transformations.

Data load is significantly faster using the new BI 7.0 method since the transformations and DTP combination is faster than the 3.5 transfer rules and update rules approach.

Once the landscape is created using the new BI 7.0 future upgrades would be on the regular pattern that SAP recommends.

Cons:

Once the landscape is created using the BW 3.5 an upgrade project would be necessary as the old landscape would be in production.

Migration to the new BI 7.0 method will involve significant amount of work in terms of creation of transformations and documentation.

I would really appreciate your response and your inputs if we need to move from old business content 3.5 to new BI 7.0 transformations .

Tx,

Madhu
