MDM installation OS requirement

I am installing MDM 5.5 spo4 server on my laptop. The OS is Windows Xp Prof and hardware is Intel pentium centrino 512mb. I tried import server and syn server installation too.

While installing it is giving me error "xerces~1.dll is not a valid windows image. please check this against your installation diskette".

Is it because I havent installed any database yet?

But the error doesnt seem to be related to database issue.

As per service.sap.com/pam only windows 2003 version is allowed, but i read in this forum few people have installed it on XP.

Please help.
