Substitution of variables in operation text

Dear all,

I want to to substitute variables in operation texts by their values in the material classification. Example :

Cut &LENGTH& mm x &WIDTH& mm

with characteristics LENGTH = 150 and WIDTH = 120 (in material classification) should be

Cut 150 mm x 120 mm

I know that this is possible in PP-PI somehow. But I am in normal PP. Reading the characteristc values is not an issue and also I know how to substitute the variables in SapScript. But where is the right point to hook in this feature or is it part of the standard ?

Ideally the substitution should have taken place directly after reading the routing.
