storage location in PO

Hi,

my client wants that the storage location should automatically get defaulted for the material when creating PO, as when we create material we give storage location.

the system should pick the same storage location what has been given for a material in the material master.

is there any option for doing this?

Hi,

This is not logical if suppose you have extended one material in more then one Storage location under one plant then which one you will take as default ???

Hi,

This is easily done, but you have to manually set the default in the material master record.

There is a field for the default storage location to be used in POs.

It is the Storage loc for EP on the MRP 2 screen.

Enter the storage location that you want to default into the PO

1) but what about for the materials where there is no MRP Views?

2) and if the same material is extended to many storage locations?

Hi,

If the material does not have the MRP view, then you can create that view for the material (it doesn't matter if it is not relevant for MPR you can use MRP type ND and MRP will ignore it).

If the Material type does not have the MRP view then that is more tricky, but there is no problem aith switching on the MRP view on ANY material type, it is an easy and safe config change to switch on the MRP view for a material type.

If the material is extended to many storage locations then what would you want the system to do? You only have two choices, choose one default and proposed the same storage location each time, or don't default anything?

For a deafult to work you need something to point to which default to use, byt setting up the material with a default as was suggested, you can have a different default for each plant.

If each person entering the PO has the same storage location then you can set this default by user. Go into ME21N or ME22N and click on the personal settings icon. then click on the PO item tab and you can specify the default storage location for that user.

One final tip is to enter an * in the storage location field if you don't know which storage locations exist and the system will give you a list to choose from.

not sure if that helps but that is all of the options that you have.

if i have understood correctly, if there is no MRP view of the material the user has to select from his own in po.

no other way/option.

yes, if you can't cretae an MRP view.

Or it can be left open and the storage location chosen at GR (but I suspect that you have used different addresses for your storage locations and may need this to be entered on the PO before it is sent to the vendor?)

HI mate

As steve mentioned in u can do that in Material master(MM02) MRP 2 view, fill in EP strgr location in case of ur material being externally procured or if it is internally produced use the field prod strge loc.
