Linking from ERP to documents in SOLMAN - requirements?

Hello everyone,

We are about to integrate documentation located in Solution Manager into different transactions in SAP ERP using GuiXT. When a user types in a certain transaction code which has a help-document "attached", like fb50 or va01, he will see a help icon, and after a click on the help icon, that links to a html-file, which opens the document from Solution Manager that is to be displayed to the right of the transaction window.

Because we are running Solman 3.2 we have to install an ITS in order to webenable the documents from Solution Manager. But after we have webenabled the documents in Solution Manager, will we then also have to set up SSO between SAP ERP and Solution Manager or will that work out of the box? Please advice on this issue.

If anyone has tried to implement a scenario like this one, I would also like to hear some experiences.

Kind regards,

Martin

Hello Martin,

the access to the documents in SolMan is an access via http to a Business Server page. For this access everyone who wants to read the document must (by default) have an own user in Solution Manager and then an SSO would be a possibility.

But if you change in SICF the service for the webaccess of the documents (sap/bc/solman/SolmanDocuments) in that way that you maintain a generic user as logon user for the service, everybody logs in with the authorizations of the generic user. Under these circumstances an SSO is not neccessary. That we did in 4.0, so it should work in 3.2 also.

Hope that helps,

Alexander

Hi Alexander

Even though its gonna be a couple of days before we will try to implement your suggestion, I believe you answered my question and solved my problem, so youll get 10 points until proven otherwise

Do you care to comment on if you implemented the exact same scenario as we are trying to? Was the only difference the version of Solution Manager?

Kind regards,

Martin
