Secure Listener (Ref#1714255)

Dear all,

Please advise how to implement the security over the listener as advised in the sap note.

We have IPC and TCP entries (both) set in our listener files and our landscape consists of standalone and cluster servers communicating with each other. My question is that if I modify the listener by amending the following line

secure_register_listener=(tcp)

secure_register_listener=(ipc)

1). I assume we can set only one either tcp or ipc. What are the implications of restricting each if I have standalone and clsuter landscape servers

2). will this be sufficient to secure the listener?

3). will it no disrupt the server to server communication? Do I need to add all the remaining listener entries if it does?

4). will it not disrupt the client comm (i believe not) but require a check again.

Regards,

    Hi,

    Either of the setting won't affect client, so I assume it is transparent for application.

    But for TCP we need path fix 12880299.

    If the listener is in the same database host, please set it to ipc which is designed for "local".

    Best regards,
    James
