Associate lead to existing opportunity

Hello,

In a case where a lead needs to be converted, but the opportunity was already created by someone else, is there an option to associate/link the lead to the existing opportunity without having to create a duplicate and delete the existing one?

    Opportunity is follow-up document of lead. Once lead is converted to opportunity automatically follow-up and preceding documents will be visible under Document Flow tab.

      First of all, please accept our apologies for the late reply in this thread. I hope you are having a good Tuesday there at Tait Limited.

      I checked this situation in our latest test system (1805) and I can see no standard means to just associate a Lead to an existing Opportunity. Since this compromises the sales process (as you would have a Lead that has not achieved its end lifecycle but is linked to an opportunity, that is the next sales step and requires a solid, finished lead) this is currently not available for any user. It would degrade the consistency of the records across the whole sales process.

      So, our suggestion is to seek our Customer Influence Site and submit a post detailing why this is important for your business needs. There, our Product Managers will evaluate its feasibility for a new release. Alternatively, you can see the help of a Custom Implementation Partner to see if this achievable with custom logic.
