SAP management console doesnt show any instances

Hi,

I installed CE recently and it seemed to be working fine. But today I have been running into trouble with the SAP management console. When I open the SAP management console it shows no instances and is empty. I tried to start the server from SAP Netweaver Composition Environment 7.1 > Application server J01 (CE1) > Start Application Server and it fails also giving me this message

===================================================

============== Starting System CE1 ================

===================================================

=============== Starting database instance ...

>>The requested service has already been started.

>>Press any key to continue . . .

And surprisingly I am not able to see any logs for today, The last I can view them for is when I tried to start the application yesterday.

I also tried to go through the composition tool set up again where it could lead me to a screen to start the server , but had no luck , it didnot give me any information about the CE instances at all.

Any help in this regard would be really appreciated it.

Thanks so much

Regards

Roopa

Hi Roopa,

Follow this...

Execute sapstartsrv.exe from one of the following paths

fill with your system details, select your START profile

from \usr\sap\<SID>\PROFILE\START*, use your Service user and password (your as <hostname>\SAPService<Sid>)

\usr\sap\<sid>\SYS\exe\uc\NTI386

\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\run

Now Check MMC

Thanks & Regards,

Venkat.

Hi Venkat,

Thanks so much for your reply. I got the instances showing up in the MMC , but I am not able to get the J2ee server up. It gives a message saying Connecting to message server and then says stopped. Do you have any clue about what can be done to get the java server up.

Thanks a lot

Ho Roopa,

I guess there is problem with the setings( and it alos depends on wheather its a 32 or 64 bit) go to config tool.bat in usr/sap/sid/instance/j2ee/configtool and run the same and change the memory settings to 512 mb for 32 bit and 2048MB for 64 bit

stop and start the MMC instance manually
