I am trying to find the easiest and simplest solution to assigning users to their required roles, and how that will impact on support personel in the future.
The situation is thus:
1. We have a number of roles stored in BW, into which templates will be published
2. In terms of who gets what, composite roles have been created in BW. A composite role is comprised of several roles. Therefore, if a user is assigned to composite role CR1, they should have access to reports in BW roles R1, R2 and R4 (for example)
So, how do I achieve this in Portal?
I can import the roles from BW, and they are uploaded quite nicely, including the composite roles. However, the composite roles come into the portal as a role, and I can't assign a role to a role.
I want to be able to take the composite role in Portal, and specify which portal roles it has access to, so that if I assign a user to the composite role (in portal), they will automatically get access to the underlying roles.
There doesn't seem to be an option to assign a role to a role.
I can manually create a group, then assign that group to the roles, and the user to the group, and that works, but now we have to explain to the support staff that you have a group in potral, and a composite role in BW ... would prefer not to have this distinction, but if its the only way, then I will accept it.
