Hi Raj,

In REM process it is mandary data , as it contais the rate routing and BOM , it define that which BOM and rate ruting you are going to use, like inmanufacturing of coca-cola there are 2 production line one is 300ml and another is 200 ml , the product is same coke but SKU is different , BOM is also differnt but the technology/ metodology of production is same .

SO in this scinario you go for prodction version 0001 for 300 ml and another 0002 for 200 ml where you are specifying that which BOM and routing is selected for 300 ml line and 200 ml line

Hopes you clear..

Hi,

Production version is a combination of routing & BOM. For every set of combination u can give a one production version.

In PP/PI production is default in recipe.

While creating production order you can choose it, or at the time of creation of PIR also.So that system will read the desired data.

No need in discreate manufacturing but must in repetative manufacturing as the data for the prod line will be taken from prod version only.

In discreate master data seelction will be taken from order type dependent parameters.

if any question let me know with rewarding suitable points.

Dear Bakyaraj,

Production versions are maintained at material level and it's not maintained for separate BOM.

For a HALB or FERT material type production versions are maintained.

Production version's are generally used in REM scenario.

It can be used in Discrete too.

This is the help contenet given in SAP.

Production verion is nothing but a Key which determines the various production techniques according to which a material can be manufactured.

The production version determines the following:

the BOM alternative for a BOM explosion

the task list type, the task list group and the task list group counter for allocation to task lists

lot-size restrictions for repetitive manufacturing.

It links the BOM & rate routing for a material.

You can create one or more production version for a material. You can see this indicator in MRP4 view of a material.

Production version is required because it's required to create product cost collectors for the materials for which a cost is to be captured in REM scenario.

Thanks & Regards

what the perpose to maintain that

The purpose in REM is this is master data must required to have BOM and routing infirmation to have RS type of planned orders to execute producton. Without Prod verison you cannot get the planned orders for rem manufacturing and also MF50 maintenence is not possible.

In discreate this is not mandatory...you can maintain if you have more BOMs or routings for a single part.
