Yep. I'll share my thoughts.

Don't copy or clone SAP standard programs.

If you want to add additional functionality to a program look for user exits or implicit/explicit enhancement points.

Or write your own that meets exactly your needs. It isn't difficult.

Seriously - SE16 of all places? What for? It's not even a business transaction...

Well - he's got to start somewhere

@Kiran_K,

You left a comment about how consultants should follow their customers wishes (and then deleted it - which I absolutely hate). If that's your idea of a consultant then I pity your clients. Consultants are there to offer their clients ideas as to how to implement their requirements, the best way of doing things and attempting to keep them on the straight and narrow with regards to SAP best practice. SAP Best Practice states that you should not copy or clone SAP programs. I'll leave you to figure out why.

Richard,

"Consultants are there to offer their clients ideas as to how to implement their requirements, the best way of doing things and attempting to keep them on the straight and narrow with regards to SAP best practice. SAP Best Practice states that you should not copy or clone SAP programs"

I didn't say a word different from what your above statement does.

The gist of my comment is about educating the Customer against hampering the sanctity of SAP Standard and not resorting to cloning Standard functionality at the drop of a hat just because the Customer asked.

Ok Kiran - apologies for that. I must remember to mute my phone at night when it's charging and not read posts at stupid o'clock in the morning. Damn Android. Why do you need to have your phone turned on for the alarm to work ????

Hi,

Can you please share with us your functional requirement. Copying standard is usually caused by not knowing the alternatives. so in your case SE16H or SQVI or a dedicated report by SAP might be a better option.

Kind regards, Rob Dielemans
