Hi

Account cat ref is a bridge between val class and matl type.

U have option to assign a val class to a material group.

So, by changing the acc cat ref, you will get the available val classes for the material type those which are assigned the specific acc cat ref.

This is not a big issue, but change of val class for any existing matls will be an issue. You need to do a lot for change of val class.

warm regards

hI,

In my case, Valuation Class is going to be the same...only thing is, it needs to assigened to Service Master(Account Category Reference). ie from Acc Cat Ref 0005 to 0006.

Does it make any impact?.

Thanking you in advance.

Hi,

The account category reference is ONLY used to list the available valuation classes that can be used.

I am not sure why you think you need to change this if you are saying that the valuation class is correct?

As has been said there is NO LINK between the material group and the account category reference, the link is between the material group and valuation class.

So please tell us why you THINK that you need to change anything, what is going wrong, what problems are you having?

Hi Stephen,

As per client requirment, the material group 1000 needs to assigned to Material Type Service.

It was assigned to Trading Goods by mistake. Thats the reason for the requirment.

Please let me know the impacts it will have...

Thanking you in advance.

Hi,

Where are you assigning material groups to Material types, or account assignment categories?

I am not aware of any such link.

hi Kavitha

Has any transaction been done using the materials in these material group/material type. If so and if you change the account category reference, and if there is some stock existing, then your valuation will get effected. you cant operates with the earlier posting and you may face problem with ealier transactions. System wont be able to trace the earlier stocks.

Anyway if you say, your valuation class remains the same including others settings for the material type, it wont be affecting anything.

Hi Stephen,

Material Group to Valuation Class AND

in OMSK , Valuation Class to Acc Cat Reference.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi,

If you are setting the valuation class against the material group (in "entry aids for POs without material master).

then it doesn't make any difference, if you change the link between the valuation class and the account assignment category. this link is ONLY used to determine the valuation classes that can be entered in MM01 and MM02. the link between the valuation class and the acc assign cat does not affect anything financially. the valuation class is the key that controls the financial postings and so if you are not changing this there is NO PROBLEM.

You have even less to worry about because these are obviously NOT stock items (because they have no material master record) and so the risk of changing the valuation class is reduced (and you are not even changing this).

So don't worry, all will be OK.
