How to upgrade SAP Ecc 5.0 from version SAP 4.7

First u should convert the 4.7 nonunicode to Unicode
https://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Business Suite Applications -> SAP ERP -> mySAP ERP 2004 - then choose your OS version.
https://service.sap.com/instguides -> Other Documentation -> Database Upgrades - then choose your DB version.
Conversion to Unicode is not absolutelly necessary, but you will be limited to only one "extra chars" language, if it's enough now (and in close future) then you do not have to do it.
