Product number range assignment

Hello,

Can anybody give some informations on how crm products numbers assignment works. I am looking for numbers generated by the system and not entering product id manually.

Steps

 Maintain number range groups (T. code: COMCMATERIALID : Click change groups button. Then Menu: Group  maintain)

 Assign number range to group

 Assign Product category to number range group

o In COMCMATERIALID click change Group (refer screen shot below)

o Select a number range group(checkbox)

o click the product type from the not assigned list

o click on the select assignment icon from the toolbar

o click on the button Element/ Group from the toolbar

Then in t. code COMCPRTYPENRO – To control number assignment. i.e. whether the product should take internal no. or external no. select 1 - Alha numeric id ....
