Hi Experts,
I am facing a problem in logging on to the portal server as an Administrator on its homw page : http://<sid>:port/irj/portal .
While i try to log in to visual admin , i am able to do so with the same id.
Any specific reason for this ??

There is an SAP Note available for this procedure... if you have an S-User id for Service Market place, get that note,.. or here's the reply...
Actually you need to activate super user called SAP*. Try the follwing procedure...
Do the following to log in as SAP* in the visual admin.
Go to the config tool, click on com.sap.security.core.ume.service(under services in the global server configuration).Under the global properties tab click on the "ume.superadmin.activated" and set this as TRUE(This will be FALSE by default). Then set any password for the "ume.superadmin.password".Restart the cluster for the changes to take effect.
Now login into Visual admin using SAP* and the password that you had set. Reset J2EE_ADMIN password,. Logoff.
De-activate SAP* in the same way you activated it.

Hi Ashish,
It may sometimes happen that a user enters the wrong password a number of times (by default, 3) and if that user is the administrator, then the administrator user is locked. This prevents all sorts of things happening. To unlock the administator, use the following process
You need to use the Config Tool and the process is:
1) Go to the Server Installed path i.e. usr\sap\<systemid>\<system instance>\J2EE\configtool\
2) Choose configtool.bat and start it.
3) Under Global Server Configuration, choose Services.
4) Find com.sap.security.core.ume.service, click it.
5) Under Global Properties, find ume.superadmin.activated
6) Set the Custom value to TRUE.
7) Apart from that, you have to set another property i.e.
😎 ume.superadmin.password, define some password. The password that you are defining is for sap*. save the changes.
9) Restart the server.
10) Log on to Portal with sap* as user and the defined password.
11) Create a User with Super Administrator role.
12) Go back to Config Tool and set the Custom Value as default value i.e. FALSE. save the changes.
13) Restart the Server.

Hi Raghavendra ,
I have already done this.
But still after unlocking the administrator's password through config tool , i am unable to log on to the portal server's home page through the web browser.
And i dont get any error message as well on the home page. http://<sid>:50000/irj/portal.
Where can i see the error cause?
