can any body help me how to get the list of hold po's
while creating the PO we have the option (document overview on -selection variant-purchas orders on hold) but i am not getting the same there.

Use Tcode ME80FN. From dynamic selections, chose "INCOMPLETE" field = "X".
This will display all PO's on hold.

You can also get this in ME21N, 22N and 23N in the overview screen on the left, select POs on hold.
