Empties

Empties represent a type of returnable packaging in Empties Management. Empties are normally subject to deposit requirements.

The system uses empties data to manage information on empties. Empties data comes from master records, empties movement records, reports, and so on, and can be independent or be summarized in the empties block.

Empties Managementdifferentiates between two basic types of empties:

Untied empties

Untied empties are empties materials that exist or are moved without a link to an empties-relevant material. If the liquid goods from the packaging are consumed, the packaging remains as untied empties.(RTP is similar to United empties)

Examples of untied empties:

- An empty water bottle

- A crate without beer bottles

- An empty keg

- A loose pallet

Tied empties

Tied empties are empties materials that only exist or are moved with a link to an empties-relevant material. In this context, the material flagged as tied empties assumes the packaging function.

Examples of tied empties:

- A full bottle of water

- A crate of beer containing full or empty bottles

- A full barrel of wine

- A pallet loaded with barrels

Because the full product (the liquid goods) cannot be delivered separately (loose, without packaging), the full product and tied empties material together form a fixed unit from the perspective of the full product. This does not apply to untied empties. Untied empties materials can also be posted separately (upon return delivery to the vendor, for example – exchange of empties or RTP).
