Hello All,

I needed clarification on jobs migration from CPS V8 to BPA V9. Can someone help me clarify on whether we can achieve this using Promotion module to Export/Import jobs.

I am sure on this until today, but somewhere i fear if this approach has any constraints, limitations within.

Request to share your experiences if someone has tried this before.

Hello Lakshmikanth

We did this migration a year ago with success using the export/import.

The only thing you can't export/import from CPS v8 to BPA v9 is the reports - they have to be created again in the BPA.

You dont have to migrate, you can just deploy the BPA package on top of the CPS one and it will upgrade.

Hi Gerben, Thanks for your response. We are not upgrading our CPS to BPA on same environment. Rather, we have built a parallel landscape and installed new BPA system on NW7.5 as per business requirement. Now we are planning to have all our CPS objects to be moved to new environment. We had thought of doing a system copy(DB export/Import) method. But we have observed certain limitations carrying this out from As-IS environment to newly built system environment. As in alternate approach we have decided to opt for Export/Import process via Promotion module. Kindly suggest your views on this. Thanks, Lakshmikanth

This is probably a bit late as this new forum is not sending me updates anymore. But here are my thoughts:

1) I would try to a) upgrade netweaver, then b) upgrade CPS to BPA

2) install NW7.5, do a system copy of CPS and upgrade CPS to BPA

This will allow the smoothest transition, you do not loose history etc.
