Dear Freinds,

I have four fields in my custom table....first field is key field and second one is non key (text descritpion of first field) , third fields is key field and fourth is again

as text field non key..

Field Data element

MANDT MANDT

ZZFAART FACHR (primary key)

FRTXT ZZFRTXT (char50)

ZZORGCODE ZZORGCODE (char10)

ZZORGTXT ZORGTXT (char60)

now when we are enteing from SM30 ... my requirement as per functional is

i have to make zzfaart field as primary key......... i have made it since that is first field.

now he wants zzorgcode as also primary key......... as per the table condtion i cannot

give zzorgcode as primary key as all the key fields should be in order..........but the functional say he wants in third place only............he saying we can see so many place in confiugration's in spro....where

when we enter first field the second field (text ) will be automatically populated.......

(this point iam able to do....) and the third field will be primary key...

however iam not able to do is to make the zzorgcode as primary key ............as he wants that tobe grated out as well once we enter the value and he wants it to make primary key so that no duplicates can be entered.

Please let me know how to do this point....

Dear Syamala,

Options:

1. Make first three fields as key field along with MANDT. i.e. key :MANDT, ZZFAART FRTXT, ZZORGCODE.

2. Make two tables. One with : MANDT, ZZFAART, FRTXT. The second with: MANDT, ZZFAART, ZZORGCODE, ZZORGTXT. (For example material description is stored in seperate table.)

3. Change the order of the fields: MANDT, ZZFAART, ZZORGCODE, FACHR, ZZORGTXT.

Let me know if you need further clarification.

Dear Syamala,

It you are sure that the text field would never change, you can use it as part of the primary key. There is no hard and fast rule that text field should not be part of the primary key.

You would design the primary key as per your requirement. However, if the description of ZZFAART may change later use other options that I have specified.

Condition Table:

 Condition records are always created using a specific key.

 Use tables for help in defining the structure of condition record keys.

 The most important fields used in pricing at header and item level are available in the standard system.

 The key fields of a condition table must appear at the start of the table, in other words, non-key fields must not appear between any two key fields. Condition table: The definition of the key of the condition record.
