Hi,
What is the use of material assigment option given in routing
Regards
Prakash B.
Prakash,
If the operation and timings are same for processing many or more than one material instead of creating multiple routings for a plant/material combination, We can create one routing and use the material assignment option to extend/assign to all materials which are processed same.

Hi,
To Put in other way
A Material can be produced by Routing 1 and Routing 2
or We can use the same routing to produce Mat 1 and Mat 2.
In the second case there is no need to define one more routing.
The same Routing can be used for the second material also provided we have same work center, standard values.
In this case the material Assignment Helps.

Hi,
As Prasobh has informed, if you have the same set of routings, workcenter etc for two or more materials.
You can use the same routing for all the materials.
In cs02 click the material assignment tab & enter the group counter (this should be same as that of the routing of the first material) & then enter the 2nd material no. for which you want the same routing.
