What is SID Means? (I know it is System Identification Number), whats the use of SID? who will define that?
It is decided by you when you carry out the installation.
The use of it is simply to differientiate the different system within
a landscape.
You can use any SID you want, using 3 characters.
It is not advisable to have two system ids within the same landscape
in order to avoid mistakes in transports etc.
For Example a very typical set up is
DEV (standing for the development system)
QAS (standing for the quality assurance system)
PRD (standing for the productive system)
You will find a lot of documentation in help.sap.com about how to set it up.
hope it helps
