APO Master Data

Hi,

I need some help on APO PP/DS master data. We are pulling workcenters from R/3 PP to APO as resource master. However in the R/3 there are 150 machines that are clubbed together under one workcenter WC_12345. All these 150 machines have different capacities that are currently not defined in R/3. How do we handle this kind of master data in APO ? Can we do proper PP/DS planning in APO if we have work centers defined in this way in R/3 ? How can we define capacities of individual machines if we have the above situation ?

Thanks,

Deb

Hi Anirban,

The basic assumption in capacity planning is that you plan for important and constrained resoruces. Hence one can assume that if the resources are capacity planned then the same capacities are available in the execution system for confirmation and detailed scheduling. In your example the R/3 system has 150 machines of differing capacities which are clubbed as single workcenter in R/3. This when CIFed to APO will create a single resource. So you cannot judiciously plan for the capacity. One option is to create different resources in APO (with the clubbed workcenter as a reference resource) and plan capacity in APO but then the information will be lost in R/3. Hence there is no point maintaining resources in APO and plan if there is no corresponding work centers in R/3.
