How to set the default client on logging into SAP

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to set the default client wen we log into SAP initial screen.

I tried changing in transaction RZ10,but i guess we have to restart the server,am i right???

How do we change it without restarting the server?????

In RZ10 select Default profile and enter the default client in login/system_client.This is not a dynamically switchable parameter , so you need to restart . Just stopsap R3 will do , no need to restart the database

Hi John

Whenever u change something in the instance profile parameters, for it to take effect u have to restart the INSTANCE. This is becoz the system reads the instance profile parameters only once that is when it is being started and makes a copy of it on the OS level.

So u have to restart the instance for the changes to take effect.
