Hi friends.
When we create a cost centre master mata, we should select the cost centre category, like production or service.
Why we should select this category correctly and what is its importance? Can we get any reporting information based on the this irrespective of the varuiys of cost centres?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
Srini

Hi Pathuri,
Cost center category basically is used to define classification of cost centers for the purpose of planning information, posting information(primary and secondary postings, etc.)
If you want to use user-defined cost center categories, you have to defined them in Customizing for Cost Center Accounting (CO-OM-CCA) Depending on the cost center categories, you need to enter default values for planning and posting primary and secondary costs or commitments data.
Hope this helps. pleas assign points.
