Note 911939 - Optimization hint for logical MultiProvider partitioning

...

The queries are often created in such a way that they only need data from one or a few part providers. However, the system (MultiProvider split) reads all part providers. This results in considerable time and effort being required for MultiProviders with many part providers.

....

Solution

You can specify a restriction on LP as a redundant restriction on the 0INFOPROV characteristic. However, this is often very complicated, prone to error and demanding on the end users.

With the "correction" provided in this note, you can now provide the system with information on the logical partitioning of a MultiProvider.

hope this helps.
