Aggregate rollup vs deactivating and then reactivating

Former Member

Hello All,

In the process chains I have a cube which have aggregates that are deactivated and then reactivated daily. This process takes a number of hours.

My questions are:

1. Can I change this to just do a rollup instead and thus save precious time?

2. What are the risks involved?

Regards,

Keith

Hi,

If we are doing delta loads to the cube, then we go with Rollup in the process chain. But if we are going with full uploads by deleting the existing data every time, then we go with Reactivation of aggregate in the Process chain.

Hi,

No risks involved, instead it saves your time to have the reports available in time.

You can do rollup for ur aggregate, provided that you are running the delta load everyday.

Hi,

You can change the process chain to just do a rollup. After Rollup you check the consistency of data between Aggregates and Infocube. You can do it by including program as a process in you process chain and program name is RSDD_AGGREGATE_CHECK. I'm not sure abt the name of the program. Check it out in SE38. For this check maintain a saperate process chain.

It will definitely save your execution time.

Hope it helps.

Cheers
