diff betwenn general item cat grp & normal item cat grp ..???

dear all,

we all know item category depends on order type , item category grp but in material master there are two fields for item category grp now can any one gives difference between these two with proper example (general item cat grp & normal item cat grp )..???

yes general item category group is used by the mm and the item category group is used by the sd which is useful in determining the item categoy of the item

General Item cat Group : by default NORM ( depending upon the material type system automatically proposes item category Group in material master system takes this general item category group as one of the factor to determine item category of line item )

Ex: Standard Item, Text Item, Value item, Free of Charge item

In addition to NORM these are item category groups

0001 Make to Order

0002 Configuration

0005 Mile Stone Billing

BANC Individual P.O

BANS Third Party item

ERLA Structure – Material above

LUMF Structure – Material below

LEAS Leasing

VERP Packing material

LEIH Returnable Packaging material

LEIS Service / delivery

VCIT Value Contract Item

In most cases it is the same, but if there is a scenario where the same material is treated as a raw material by PP/MM department and as a finished product by SD department. Then the general item category group will be ROH and normal item category group will be NORM.

Hi,

Item category helps in subdividing the materials like it is third party material, configurable material. Also Item category group helps in determining the Item category. where as general Item category broadly defines whether it is a packing material,where as Item category still subdivides and tells whether it is returnable packaging or just pacakaging material.
