cl_salv_tree

I am working with this class and have been able to create

reports that my client really likes.

I would like to do much more with the class but the functionality

is not available. How often does a class like this get updated

by SAP? I notice the last update was in 2004.

That is a good question, I would assume that it gets worked on as needed, not many people use the ALV Object Model hence, there is a lack of reported problems with it, I found a bug not too long ago, and I understand that it has been corrected with a note, but not really sure that SAP is focusing on adding new functionality to this tool. Especially, since they are pushing Web DYnpro as the UI stragedy.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have worked with the Web DynPro UI components, and I see some additional

functionality such more events for the nodes of the Tree UI.

But I really like the pre-built context the salv_tree runs in. The ability to export to

excel, print the report, hide/unhide/move columns, etc. In my latest projects I

was asked to essentially duplicate some BW type report functionality in the

R3 environment. I did this using the salv_tree and people were very happy

with the performance and functionality of the program.

So I will stick with that class for the time being and see whether I can

successfully recreate that functionality in the Web DynPro environment

with its UI elements.
