ESS Customization - Code changes

Former Member

Hi All,

We are implementing SAP ESS project at my company. in our initial analysis, we found lots of modifications to code like validations, hiding fields, adding new fields, removing actions like that. Web Dynpro is new tool to me. I have read many threads for my initial understanding of the concepts. But for some reason, I didnt find answers like how I actually do the modifications to the code. Like from getting source code from JDI to NDS, after that lets say we can change code for hiding and adding new fields and some custom changes.

Any documentation guide or any knowledge from previous projects is highly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch,

Murthy

Hi,

take a look at this presentation:

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/media/uuid/ca4e9415-0d01-0010-ca83-e3657...

In your case you will have to import the configuration of the track into NWDS and create a local copy of the dc you want to modify.

Then modify the dc (like adding buttons etc) and check in the activity and activate it.

Hope this will give you an idea.

Hi Laxmi,

I am not looking for info on how do import code and check in back to NWDI. This is straightforward stuff, doesnt need much info on this.

What I am looking at is, lets say you are hiding fields, adding fields that are already in screen structure/ BAPI and that are not already part of standard, validating certain fields like that. Do we have any standard documentation guide to guide us in this components code changes. For CRM we have PCUI cook book, in the similar manner, do we have anything for ESS, MSS too??

Please, if anyone have any info for the customization of ESS Screens, and any guidance to the actual changes to the code, Please forward to me. Any documentation from your previous experience or any standard documentation helps me alot.

Thank you guys,

Murthy
