Hello Friends
My requirement is somewhat like this;
Inspection Interval ( for recurring inspection ) is defined in QM view of the Material Master. Sometimes, it happens that supplier himself suggests Reinspection of the material after an interval which is less than that of specified in the Material Master and it will be applicable only to the specific batch of said material. In such cases, client want the flexibility of manually specifying the Retest Date at the time of UD ( the way we specify SLED ). We can think of of at the time of GR too. Any suggestions on this issue are welcome.
Thanks.

Mahesh,
These are the steps to be followed:
Customisation:
- SPRO>QM>QI>Insp lot completion>Define follow-up actions. In this create a function with "Usage decision for insp lot" and enter a text.
- Select that Function and double click on Function modules. Here you need to define the 'Z' function module which you will be creating for calling the MSC2N BDC.
Master data:
In QS51 - For catalog 3 /plant/*. Select 04 / 03 Selected Set and choose the codes for this set. In the right side you have the option of entering the Function defined in customisation.
With the above when ever the used enters the UD, the function module is called which calls up the dialog box for date entry and then the BDC.
So depending on your requirement you could enter the fucntions for the required UD codes.
Hope is clear to you now.
regards
Ram

Mahesh,
I could think of a way through follow-up function. Suppose you create a function in customisation and assign a function module which calls up a dialog box for date entry. The user could enter here. On entry the function module program could call up a MSC2N BDC to update the new date.
As you should be aware the follow-up function can be assigned the UD codes of the selected set of the catalog type 3.
The other way would be try and find a user-exit at UD and call up the MSC2N BDC from there.
Hope helpful.

Do you do GR of the semi or is just in process ?
In SAP there are only 2 options:
1) After GR
2) In-process.
Depending on the above you record the results in the lot created.
For in-process insp lot you need to create manually during regular intervals using transaction MFPR.
For insp lot 04 type it is created at godds receipt.

Dear Ram
Actually we do GR for Raw materials as well as for inhouse production. Today, due to inspection type 09 assigned material, inspection lot gets genearted once the Inspection Interval period ( defined in QM view of Matl Master ) is over. But in this case client wants the flexibility to enter it manually at the time of UD which will be applicable exclusively to the Batch in question. One way of doing it is thru MSC2N. But, client would like to have it at the time of UD. Is there any way? Conceptually requirement is in line with that of SLED, as we can specify SLED at Material Master, at the time of GR or at the time of UD.
Thanks
mahesh
