I have an existing universe (a .unv originaly created in BO XI R2 or before) that is currently in BO 4.1 SP7.
There is a need to add a source of data to this universe.
I understand that there is no way to convert a .unv to a .unx based off a
a multisource-enabled data foundation but what would be the recommended approach to achieving this? and are there best practices somewhere that I could look up when creating a new Data Foundation / Business Layer.
The reason I ask is that if I am going to fully recreate a universe with ~25 contexts, ~100 tables, ~500 dimensions and ~200 measures ... I would really like to avoid traps and have to live with mistakes in the future.
Can anyone recommend an approach? Best practices? or anything that could help guide me?
if new data source is required for limited reports then you can create separate universe and use multiple webi queries to display data at webi level.with this you can avoid creating new universe.
if it is going to important in future and need in single universe then only option is to create multi-source universe.

The process on the clariba blog is what I was looking for. I was told that the business layer could not be re-used and I was happy to see that there is a chance for some copy paste on the data foundation.
Now if I could only find some best practices when creating a new Data Foundation, I would feel much more confident that I am doing it right. [or better if nothing else]
Amit is correct. There is no possible way to convert your existing universe into a Multisource universe.
