Production Scheduler.......

Hi there,

As per my understanding we can create a production scheduling profile & assign it to Production Scheduler which in turn is assigned to a material......... is there any other usage of production scheduler.......... apart from using it to indirectly assign the scheduling profile to a material.............

Please enlighten me ........

Hi,

You can assign the order type to production scheduler.

You can assign the order type to production scheduling

profile.

We can assign the production scheduler to production schheduling profile.

Indirectly we can assign the order type to material master via production scheduler or production scheduling profile.

Kaushik,

Production scheduler is basically used to group a list of materials for reporting or executing a transaction.

By the way of assigning a Production scheduling profile to Scheduler it defaults the parameters according to this. In some cases it may happend that we need to have different controls/parameters for the same production scheduler, in this case we assign the production scheduling profile directly in the material master "Work scheduling view" now this takes priority over the one which was assigned to the production scheduler.

Kaushik,

Production scheduler will be a selection field in most of the execution releated transactions/reports. In this case if you run the report it pulls the list of all records relevant to that scheduler.

Example:

COOIS / CO27 / COHV- Transaction

In the intial selection screen if i use scheduler as "001" then system pulls a report of all orders for materials to which "001" - Production Scheduler is assigned.

Manufacturing Work Instructions is a means of removing paper-based forms from the manufacturing process. It allows for the creation, approval, dispatching, execution and archiving of work instructions, effectively connecting the top floor with the shop floor through SAP ERP.

The Manufacturing Work Instructions scenario involves a two-phased process. It begins when a business architect designs a work instruction template that includes all of the steps and operations which include the consumption of the enterprise services that must be followed to manufacture a product. This template is designed using Adobe Forms Designer, where one can import an existing PDF or Microsoft Word document, a blank form, or an existing template, and then convert and save it as an Adobe Interactive Form. The form is tested and then sent to a manager for approval. Once approved, the template or form for making a particular product is sent to the central repository.

In the second phase, a <b>production scheduler</b> dispatches the orders to the appropriate work centers. When an operator logs in, he selects his work center and gets the list of orders that need to be completed during the shift. After choosing a particular order, a copy of the template is made, the relevant order information is inserted, and the order is started and executed. The operator posts the resulting data to the backend while executing the steps or instructions. The form, on completion, is finally sent to a quality reviewer and can be archived for later use.
