    Hi Dhanya,

it's not possible to restore data from release 9 to 10, for restoring a backup source and target need to be exactly the same release.

There are several possibilites, depending on what exactly you want to do:

    - upgrade the source database to 10g, then do a systemcopy.

    - keep the source system on release 9. Take a backup and install the target system with release 9, using your backup. After finishing the installation of the target system, upgrade the target database to release 10.

    - do a migration, exporting the contents of the source database using SAP tools (you'll need to register a migration project for this at SAP, also you'll need a migration certified consultant...)

    See here for more information:

    Best regards,

i was trying the following way..

      at source sytem :

      1) take the backup offline/online at source system

      at target system

      1) install the same db version and os version

      2) restore the source database backup

      3) then install the oracle 10g software

      4) then use the dbua (database upgrade assitant ) to upgrade the database

bt while installing the db instance, i got the following error

      MOS-01012 PROBLEM: 'E:\.....\RUN\SAPLICENSE -R3SETUP <SID> "09XTFIUK" TRACE=2' returned with '-2' which is not a defined as a success code.

Can anyone pls help me out...........!!!
